Name: Carlee Age: Over 21 Contact: Timezone: EST Other Character(s): Kisa from From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series |
Name: Max Guevara Door: Door pass (dominant) Canon: Dark Angel Canon Point: Post 2x21 (Freak Nation) Age: 22 Appearance: Early twenties. (Still, gif.) History: Series wiki, wiki on Max. (Content warning: mentions of abuse and brainwashing involving children and adults, manipulation, dubious consent and consent violation; app mentions human trafficking). Personality: POSITIVE COMPASSIONATE: Max is shown as early as the pilot episode of the series, when she is still mostly looking out for herself and trying to lay low to keep from drawing attention from Manticore, to grow attached to the people in her life and want to do what she can to help them when they are in trouble. This ranges from the ridiculous (posing as Sketchy's fiancé to confront the woman who's been blackmailing him so she won't find out he's been cheating on her) to much more serious (going after the men who shot Logan and kidnapped his witness's daughter), and her compassion only grows as the series goes on, leaving her feeling responsible for the transgenics she let out of Manticore when she realized Renfro was going to burn the facilities down with them inside and eventually leading to her setting Terminal City up as a haven for the transgenics still in Seattle. NEGATIVE STUBBORN: It is difficult to get Max to do something she does not want to do, and while this often works out for her in the series (it is her show after all), there's often times where the situation would be improved if she'd been willing to bend a little bit. There are several instances, especially with Logan and Zack in season one, when this behavior is displayed at its worst, most notably in the episode Out, when Max tells Logan off and quits working with him after he turns a dinner into an Eyes Only mission to bring down a cargo plane (she comes to regret this when she realizes the cargo are girls that are victims of human trafficking and Logan almost gets killed when he goes after them himself). JUDGMENTAL: Max does not like realizing she's wrong about people, especially when those people have wronged her in some way. This is displayed in several instances but most notably with Alec, who she initially did not like or trust due to him selling her out to Renfro and orchestrating the assassination attempt on Logan and then attempting to kill her and Joshua. It took a long time for her to see him as someone aside of a way for Manticore to try and break her (prior to her 'escape', they were set up as breeding partners and Alec shares the face of Ben, a fellow X5 escapee who'd become a serial killer and asked her to kill him rather than be brought back to Manticore where he'd be subject to re-indoctrination and torture) and an even longer time for her to see past what he'd done to her. It took seeing the effects that a past mission ended up having on him to make her realize how hard Manticore had also been on him and start seeing him as another victim of Manticore, rather than an agent of it. SENTIMENTAL: I mentioned her compassion earlier, and while I listed it as a positive trait, there's also a negative side to it, namely people using her attachments to the people she cares about against her. There are several instances where Max would benefit from leaving Seattle behind, but she doesn't due to the connections she's made there (Original Cindy, Logan, the other friendships she's formed). Even after she burns Manticore down and escapes them, she doesn't take the opportunity to leave, although her attachment to Logan already been used against her (Manticore engineered a fake escape so she would infect Logan with a retrovirus specifically targeted to his DNA that will kill him if they touch) and there are other enemies who become aware of her location. Her sentimentality and desire to see the best in people she becomes attached to is most notably used in season one when Manticore sends Brin, an X5 who'd voluntarily gone back to Manticore due to dying of a genetic condition they ended up curing her of, after Max and Tinga; Max doesn't want to believe they've succeeded in changing her and this leads to Brin betraying them twice more before the season finale. Powers and Abilities: Max is a transgenic, someone genetically engineered with a specific purpose. Throughout most of the series we are lead to believe that this purpose, along with the rest of the group she escaped with, was to be the perfect soldier. We find out shortly before the end of the series that Max's purpose was to save the world from an event that would kill off 97% of the global population, with the exception of the Familiars (a thousand year old breeding cult behind this plan for world domination) and the transgenics (people like Max and the others created by Manticore). How was she supposed to save the world? No one's sure and we didn't get to see, but the theory is that she contained some sort of immunity to a plague. What this means, essentially, is that she appears human but her physical and mental capabilities are way more advanced than a human's can be - her senses are enhanced, she heals quicker, and she's more agile (think Steve Rogers, if he were genetically engineered and not given a serum and given a dash of feline DNA). In addition to this, she's had extensive military training since very early childhood and is a skilled cat burglar. Inventory: (1) backpack, containing her (2) sector pass and (3) her pager. Samples: One, two. Note: I have apped Max here before, however I am apping her now with a clean slate and no memories of her previous time here. If this still requires her previous acceptance, here it is. |
