i wanted her to live her best goat life. that was not with me. i found her a cute pair of kids, they're in love with her already. and i made them sign a contract.
( he's a satanist. he's good with contracts. )
i haven't either. of all the animals to pick, dog seems like a weird one, but i guess that's why i'm not a mad geneticist.
that's fair, an apartment isn't the most practical place to raise a growing goat. i'm glad you found her a place she'll thrive. and hopefully develop a taste for things that aren't hair or shoes.
they did it for the genetic benefits - enhanced vision, agility, ability to withstand extreme temperatures, things like that. they didn't end up sticking with canine for later trials but all of us have some kind of animal dna thrown in. i've got feline. maybe some shark.
sure but dogs don't have the best eyesight, usually they're more noted for their olfactory skills. and i really don't want to think about a superhuman that smells things especially good.
cat sort of makes sense, with the independence and everything. can't say i've noticed the shark.
if you're part cat, does that mean you're against dogs?
i don't know about especially, but my senses in general are stronger.
sorry, you said you didn't want to think about it. the shark's just a theory since i don't sleep if i can help it.
no. sometimes they're wary of me. my friend noticed it right away and was a little cagey, but that might have been more from being trapped in a basement for years.
as long as you're not hearing my heartbeat or smelling what i had for lunch three days ago we're probably fine
i ask because there's some margin for just poofing back to from whence you came, and if i disappear then someone would need to look after the dog. i don't think anyone else likes me enough. you could at least make sure someone else gets it.
you don't have to, obviously. just... i don't know.
( is this too much responsibility to put on someone? if i go back home to die, will you make sure someone takes care of my dog?)
oh god, no. i can smell things that are present more intensely and hear you talking from farther away than normal. jesus, i can't even picture trying to live with those kind of senses.
[ she's kind of honored that she's being asked, since it involves a lot of trust in someone. but it makes her incredibly sad to read the words. she's noticed people getting sent back home, too, and she knows he doesn't get to go back to a long, happy life if he ends up getting sent home. ]
yeah me neither. think there was this ben affleck movie about it, but the dumb outfit was so distracting i didn't really think about the existential dread of that situation.
( he was sort of expecting rejection, if only because Daniel is always expecting rejection. it feels like a lot to put on someone. and maybe he won't ever go through with it because when does he ever go through with anything? but he couldn't go through with it without knowing there'd be someone. so it's appreciated, if strange. )
it sounds like a nightmare. (the situation, not the movie, although you're not making a very strong case for it.)
[ their whole situation is pretty strange, so what's another weird factor thrown into it? that said, she's hoping he doesn't need her to do it if he does end up going through with it. she wouldn't wish this place on anyone, but she also doesn't want him going back to face his death. ]
look if you come across a bunch of ben affleck movies that's not the one i would go for.
( what odds, huh? Duplicity is only barely better than death, but somehow still better. Daniel doesn't feel he particularly deserves to live, but he also doesn't want to die. so he's sort of stuck with this or nothing. )
i dunno if i'll do it. but it makes more sense than a goat in an apartment.
i don't even know who he is, so that seems unlikely anyway.
[ she doesn't know that he believes that or why he believes that, but if she knew about all of it she still might not agree. he's not the only person who'd been forced into killing as early as childhood. ]
yeah, i'd imagine so. probably less likely to try eating hair, too.
[ he'd still been a kid when he was introduced to it all, same as she'd been. it had taken her years to figure out what was going on and what they'd been getting trained for. but them commiserating about this kind of thing means delving deeper than they have been, and he doesn't seem interested in doing that.
to be fair, neither is she. she'd already decided she likes him and doesn't want anything jeopardizing that. ]
let me know once you find a dog and i'll know whether or not to start wearing it up when i come by.
good. anything hard enough to give me whiplash i'm not gonna enjoy.
[ she's not opposed to roughness in general, but she'd prefer a buildup to it. generally.
(and let's be real, if they're getting rough she'd prefer to be the one in charge of how rough things get.) ]
i don't know if i can help out when it comes to specific breeds, unfortunately. beyond the advice that i think the smaller breeds might be a little too skittish for what you're looking for.
do i really seem like the sort to pull hard enough to actually give you whiplash
( genuinely asking. he had that sharp peak of violence at six (where he didn't actually do any of it personally) and it's all been downhill from there. he hit Grace with the wrong end of a rifle, yes, but only because it was less terrible than shooting her. )
god. nothing small. back home i was surrounded by rich white women and their angry small dogs. who knew something so small could be so full of impotent rage

is it weird to kinda miss the goat?

can you still visit her?

i've been thinking about getting a dog.

[ especially given the amount of parties who'd been more interested in eating her. ]
really?
i've never had a pet. but i knew someone with canine dna.

sure. and for what it's worth i will try to avoid any more animals with pica in the apartment.
no subject
can it be considered pica if they're not human?
but thanks. on behalf of your shoes and my hair.
what kind of dog are you thinking of?
no subject
i don't know. i don't actually know anything about dogs. or even where to start. an affectionate one, i guess.
( his favorite moments with the goat were when it slept for about ten minutes and wanted to cuddle up to his side for it. )
no subject
i guess fair's fair, since i liked pulling yours. just don't yank on it.
i think most dogs are supposed to be affectionate. maybe not german shepherds, but the ones i was familiar with were trained to be aggressive.
no subject
german shepherds are supposed to be smart, i think. i need something dumb and quick to forgive.
